Due DiligenceA recent Home Office report estimates the cost of fraud in the UK at £13.8 billion a year - that's 17 times the amount lost annually to the public through burglaries. Due diligence offers a measure of transparency and peace of mind, leaving clients in merger or acquisition talks confident they are getting an accurate picture of exactly what's on the negotiating table before striking major contracts or alliances. At GSS, it's our job to sift fact from fiction and uncover trends that may expose unsound business practices - or even criminal activity. And it's not unusual for us to discover that the basic facts presented in business and other transactions have later been found to stretch the truth, or turn out to be downright fraudulent. So having seen deception in all its forms and guises, we are well placed to advise on proactive due diligence measures. Our team includes one of only a few UK-based investigators accredited as a Certified Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
